Hannah Connell Barker immigrated from Ireland and landed in the rough mining town of Boulder in 1869, contributing herskills as a teacher, businesswoman and civic leader until her death in 1918. Her home at 800 Arapahoe Ave. was the welcoming site of many community gatherings. After Hannah's death, the building fell into disrepair and was in danger of being demolished until, in 2010 the house was donated to Historic Boulder. The preservation and renovation of Hannah's house is Historic Boulder's main goal today. The first phase of a five-phase rehabilitation has been completed.
